Case Study 2

A co-owner of a
family-owned business attended our Focus on the Year workshop.
She participated fully and scheduled the follow-up session that was part
of the workshop. At that session, she admitted that she really wanted
to walk away from the business. However, she was also concerned that
she would let her family down.
Rather
than just abandoning the business, as she felt inclined to do, she
agreed to work establishing her priorities and composing her thoughts.
She focused on what she wanted to run toward, rather than what she
wanted to run from. Then she scheduled a Focus workshop that included
the other family members.
When
she went through the process with the family, she was able to express,
objectively, what was important to her and how she would be happier
pursuing another career choice.
Until
then, nobody realized that she felt the way she did.
They understood and supported her choice. Together, they were able to
create a workable plan that transferred her responsibilities.
Ultimately,
she left the business and moved into work that is more enjoyable and
gives her more time to focus on what’s important to her.
